1. Introduction & Acceptance
These Terms and Conditions govern all services provided by Koppens Development Services Ltd (trading as Koppens Drainage Services) to you (the Client). By engaging our services, requesting a quote, or using our website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or website.
2. Services
Koppens Drainage Services provides drainage, plumbing, gasfitting, excavation, earthworks, and equipment hire services across the Bay of Plenty. All drainage and plumbing work is carried out by licensed Certifying Drainlayers and licensed plumbers/gasfitters in accordance with New Zealand Building Code requirements and relevant local council regulations.
3. Quotes & Estimates
We provide free, no-obligation quotes for most services. Quotes are based on the information available at the time of assessment and are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated. If unforeseen circumstances arise during a project (e.g. hidden damage, ground conditions, additional work requested by the Client), we will discuss any additional costs before proceeding. Verbal estimates are indicative only and are not binding.
4. Pricing & Payment
All prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and are exclusive of GST unless otherwise stated. Payment is due within 7 days of invoice for account clients. For one-off jobs, payment is due on completion of work. Accepted payment methods include cash, bank transfer, and EFTPOS. Late payments may incur a penalty fee. Hire equipment (plate compactor) must be paid for in full at the time of pickup.
5. Equipment Hire — Plate Compactor
The 360kg reversible plate compactor is available for half-day (4 hours) or full-day hire. The hirer is responsible for the equipment from the time of pickup to the time of return. The hirer must hold a valid trailer licence and is responsible for safe transport, operation, and return of the equipment in clean, undamaged condition. Loss, theft, or damage to the equipment during the hire period is the hirer's responsibility. Hire fees are non-refundable once the hire period has commenced.
6. Cancellations & Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking, please contact us as early as possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a call-out fee. Cancellations for equipment hire made less than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time may forfeit the hire fee.
7. Warranties & Guarantees
All workmanship is guaranteed in accordance with the New Zealand Building Code and relevant industry standards. If any defect arises in work carried out by us within the applicable warranty period, we will rectify it at no cost to the Client. This warranty does not cover damage caused by third parties, misuse, natural disasters, or normal wear and tear. Product warranties are subject to the respective manufacturer's terms.
8. Liability
Koppens Development Services Ltd accepts liability for damage caused directly by our negligence during the provision of services. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss, or for damage to existing infrastructure (e.g. old pipes, brittle fittings) that occurs despite reasonable care. Where we engage subcontractors, they operate under their own liability and licensing.
9. Council Consents & Compliance
Where council consent is required for drainage or plumbing work, we will assist with the consent application process. The Client is responsible for council consent fees unless otherwise agreed in the quote. Final sign-off is subject to council inspection and approval, which is outside our control.
10. Privacy
We collect and store personal information (name, contact details, site address) solely for the purpose of providing quotes, carrying out work, and maintaining records. We do not share your information with third parties except where required by law or to complete a consent application. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
11. Website Use
All content on this website is the property of Koppens Development Services Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without prior written permission. We are not responsible for the content of external websites linked from this site.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
